Barrick Gold Corporation

Northwest Tanzania’s Tarime district is home to the North Mara gold mine operated by Barrick Gold Corporation. Situated approximately 100 kilometers east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometers south of the Kenyan border, it can be found.

In 2002, Barrick North Mara began manufacturing goods for sale. The Nyabirama open pit and Gokona underground deposit are the two locations where the mine works. An average of 8,000 tonnes of ore can be processed every day by the process unit.

Open Positions and Description:

1. Electrician

Responsibilities

  • By using the necessary PPE, reporting incidents and accidents, attending mandatory safety meetings and courses, and strictly adhering to all other rules, regulations, and guidelines—including those pertaining to occupational health, safety, and the environment—you can ensure safe work practices.
  • Perform efficient tool inspections, document results, and do assigned duties quickly and safely.
  • Install and maintain equipment, and make sure that tools and appliances are in good condition.
  • Install, fix, and track down issues with protective relays and HV switch gears.
  • Install and maintain 0.37 kW to 6000 kW three phase induction motors as well as single phase motors. Carry out the wiring and installation of HV electrical devices.

Qualification requirements

  • Full Technician’s Certificate, VETA Grade I, and Electrical Trade Certification.
  • Electrical engineering diploma or its trade equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of best practices and mining safety regulations.

2. Geological Technician

Responsibilities

3. Process Plant Operator III

Responsibilities

  • Operation of the plant’s particular circuit within the given tolerances, guided by metallurgical advice.
  • Always deliver excellent work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Keep an eye on and troubleshoot working machinery.
  • Reporting abnormalities and equipment breakdowns so they can be fixed.
  • Hourly/shift sample submission and gathering.
  • Handling and mixing of reagents.

Qualification requirements

  • A bonus will be the Form Four (IV) Secondary Education and the Diploma in Mineral Processing.
  • It will be advantageous to have a Full Technician or Trade Certificate (FTC) in Mineral Processing, or something similar.
  • Knowledge of the Mines Health and Safety Act.

4. Light Vehicle Mechanic

Responsibilities 

  • Make sure that safe work practices are followed, including obligatory safety meetings and training, the use of PPE when needed, incident and accident reporting, and strict adherence to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to occupational health, safety, and the environment.
  • Adhere to all maintenance protocols and guarantee that mechanical tasks are completed in a standard manner, taking care not to further harm any system, equipment, or component.
  • Make sure that all equipment is isolated, follow the guidelines for working in confined spaces and at heights, and do pre-start inspections and checks.

Qualification requirements

  • Education in Secondary School.
  • Full Technician’s Certificate, VETA Grade I, Diesel Mechanics Trade Certification.
  • Class D driver’s license from Tanzania is required; class F licenses will be advantageous.
  • Technical/Vocational Education, Apprenticeship Training, and On-the-Job Training (including FTC, VETA, and IMTT Trade Tests or similar programs).

5. Graduate Civil Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Accountabilities (To be read in combination with the Tailings Management Global Industry Standard, or GISTM) Global Trade Standards, Global Trade Review, Global Industry Standard.
  • Verifies adherence to the policies and procedures of Barrick.
  • Carries out all tasks in order to give the Operator a coordinated approach to tailings governance through the Accountable Executive.
  • Applying Section 2.3 of the Tailing Management Standard (TMS).
  • Establishing a budget and getting input from the right people so that the Accountable Executive or other individuals with budget power can approve it.

Qualification requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Water and Civil Engineering.
  • A thorough understanding of the properties of soil structure and how compaction and consolidation are measured.

6. Graduate Process Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Verifies adherence to the policies and procedures of Barrick.
  • Carries out all tasks in order to give the Operator a coordinated approach to tailings governance through the Accountable Executive.

  • Establishing a budget and getting input from the right people so that the Accountable Executive or other individuals with budget power can approve it.

Qualification requirements

  • Mineral process engineering bachelor’s degree.
  • A thorough understanding of the properties of soil structure and how compaction and consolidation are measured.
