1. AIU Diploma Program Requirements
All candidates for university diploma programs must fulfill the following minimal standards in academic performance:
- Mean Grade C (minus) on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) OR its Accredited and Recognized Equivalent
- A recognized and accredited post-secondary certificate that is recognized in conjunction with a KCSE Mean Grade D (minus) or its equal
- The “Ordinary Level” Division I or II of the Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE), the East African Certificate of Education (EACE), or an Accredited and Recognized Equivalent, OR
- A recognized post-secondary certificate in addition to the Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE), East African Certificate of Education (EACE), “Ordinary Level” Division III, or an accredited and recognized equivalent
- The “Advanced Level” of the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) requires at least one Principal pass and one subsidiary.
2. Degree Program Requirements
- In addition to the additional prerequisites listed for each academic degree, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) minimum requirement of Grade C+, or its equivalent, must be met.
- Candidates holding a diploma from a suitable school that has been approved by the University Senate.
3. Postgraduate Programs Requirements
- Those who have completed their undergraduate studies at Africa International University or other institutions approved by the AIU Senate,
- All schools’ postgraduate diploma programs must run for a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months after the date of registration.

When To Apply?
Typically, applications for the regular programs end on December 15th for the January intake, April 15th for the May intake, and August 15th for the September intake.
In order for international students to be admitted for the September intake, their application must have been submitted by April; similarly, for the January intake, it must have been submitted by September; and for the April intake, it must have been submitted by January.
Your application for the school-based programs must be received by us by 10 March for the April vacations, 10 July for the August holidays, and 10 November for the December holidays.
