TCU Bachelor Degree Admission Criteria 2024; Based on the established entry standards for various entry pathways, the Tanzania Commission for Universities creates an undergraduate admission guidebook that includes a list of all bachelor degree programs offered by Tanzania’s higher education institutions.
The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) is a corporate body established on July 1, 2005, under the Universities Act, Cap. 346 of the Laws of Tanzania, with the mandate to recognise, approve, register, and accredit universities operating in Tanzania, as well as local or foreign university-level programmes offered by registered higher education institutions. It also ensures that all Tanzanian universities work properly in order to develop a unified higher education system in the country.
Eligibility to Apply:
- Form Six Leavers
- Holders of Ordinary Diplomas, FTC, and their equivalents
- Holders of Foundation Certificate of the Open University of Tanzania
- Holders of Bachelor’s Degree awards
Procedures:
- Read and Understand Requirements:
- Carefully read and understand the admission requirements provided in the 2024/2025 Admission Guidebooks.
- Lodge Applications:
- Submit applications directly through respective institutions.
Note:
- Applicants with foreign qualifications must have their qualifications validated and equated by NECTA or NACTVET for secondary education, teacher education, and Technical Education in respect of NTA Level 6/Diploma qualifications respectively.
Minimum Admission Entry Qualifications:
- The minimum entry qualifications for admission into HEIs for all Bachelor’s Degree programmes are specified in Tables 1, 2, and 3.
Special Notes:
- Bachelor Degree Holders:
- Holders of a Bachelor Degree award shall be eligible for admission into another degree programme provided the admitting university has such provisions in their student admission guidelines.
- Outreach Programmes:
- Universities may offer certificate and diploma programmes in relevant academic disciplines for professional development and lifelong learning.
- Ordinary Diploma Programmes (UQF Level 6):
- Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A-Level):
- At least one Principal level pass relevant to the discipline/programme applied and at least four passes (D’s and above) at O-Level excluding religious subjects.
- NTA Level 5 or Professional Technician Certificate Level II:
- At least four passes (D’s and above) at O-Level excluding religious subjects.
- Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A-Level):
- Foreign Certificates:
- Foreign qualifications must be equated with national equivalences (NECTA and NACTVET) before processing the application.
