The incumbent is in charge of spearheading the creation and execution of UNESCO publishing strategy, working under the direction of the Director of the Division for Communications and Public Engagement (CPE).

Major Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the Publications department, spearheading CPE’s publishing and editorial initiatives to amplify UNESCO’s program and brand’s favorable awareness.
  • In order to maintain a high standard of content, style, and format for publications projects and co-publishing agreements.
  • Create and preserve networks of writers, publishers, and institutions and companies on a national and international scale to raise UNESCO’s profile and establish its credibility as a dependable partner, particularly for partnerships and co-publishing.
  • Using the Publications Board, pilot and improve UNESCO’s publication value chain and logistics starting with planning and production tools.

Eligibility and Responsibilities

  • Education: A master’s degree or higher from an advanced university in a related discipline, such as publishing, communication, literature, linguistics, organizational management, or marketing.
  • Experience: Three years of experience gained at an international level is preferred, but at least seven years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience in publishing is required.
  • Proficient in organization, coordination, and planning.
  • Language: Work experience at an international publishing house or within the UN system.
