Eligibility and Requirements
- All ACES scholarship applicants had to be enrolled as juniors, or graduate students in college or university and working toward a degree.
- They must also exhibit a desire to pursue a profession in editing. Scholarships are given out regardless of a student’s domicile, country, or academic specialty. Previous recipients of scholarships are not qualified.
- The Walsh scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who exhibits the skill and love of language that Bill Walsh committed his professional life to, and who hopes to work as a news editor. Candidates for the remaining five scholarships ought to be dedicated to editing written materials and show that they can do it well.
