Internship Overview

Start date: August/September 2024
Duration: 12 months, Full-time
Location: Kenya
Type of Employment: Internship

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy/Program Management: Participates in the implementation of Microsoft’s government affairs strategies and/or programs.
  • Subject Matter Expertise and Influence: helps with the data and intelligence gathering process in order to support the creation of policy briefings, presentations, position papers, and legislative testimony in support of proposed legislation.
  • Representing Microsoft: Contributes to the creation of materials, social media activity, and content in order to help with the planning, organization, and/or execution of internal and external events.
  • External Relationships: Tracks developments in the regulatory environment and/or suggestions for changes; keeps lines of communication open with regulatory agencies; cultivates ties on behalf of Microsoft at pertinent external events and/or collaborates with leaders to foster relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as public policy, public administration, political science, economics, or law (BCom or BA).
  • In order to be considered for this position, you must have legal authorization to work in Kenya. (Legally authorised means a citizen or someone who has been given a legitimate work permit or visa).

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year’s experience creating and overseeing strategic alliances to advance and shape public and technology policy agendas.
  • Strong relationship-building and/or stakeholder management skills
  • Some experience overseeing multiple group communications and projects.
