All fourth- and fifth-year medical students are invited by MUHAS, in partnership with University College Dublin, Ireland, to apply for a partially subsidized (lodging, airfare, and meals) elective rotation in pediatrics at University College Dublin. September through October of 2024 will be the six-week period of the clinical placement.
In 1963, the Dar es Salaam Medical School was established, and it later became the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS). Subsequently, the school became the University of Dar es Salaam’s Faculty of Medicine. In 1991, it underwent an overhaul and became the Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS).
Eligibility criteria
- A student who has registered as an MD4 or MD5 MUHAS for the 2023–2024 school year
- Inclination towards a profession in pediatrics and associated subspecialties
- A grade of A in junior or senior rotations in pediatric and pediatric health
- A cumulative average GPA of at least 4.0
- Those chosen for the clinical placement must be available for the whole time.
This elective’s tuition will be fully funded. Students will get $2000 to cover their living expenses, meals, travel insurance, and airfare. Any extra expenses for subsidies will be borne by the student.
